Honda Motorcycles Gold Wing GL1500A Aspencade
|
GL1500A'91 - In 1991, Honda brought back the Aspencade name for the Gold Wing. It was a black
unit with 10th anniversary logos and chrome front brake cover. The "standard" Wing came in two colors: Candy
Wineberry Red and Blue Green Metallic. Also new for this year was the Special Edition model (i.e., GL1500SE)
which came in Pearl Pacific White.

The GL1500A'92 Gold Wing Aspencade was sold in 1992 and was available in one of two colors:
Candy Spectra Red or Cambridge Blue Metallic. The serial number began 1HFSC220*NA400003. For more detail click here.

The GL1500A'93 Gold Wing Aspencade was sold in 1993 in one of three colors: Candy Spectra Red,
Cambridge Blue Metallic, or Black. The front shock air caps were standard. The cruise control system was
updated. The rocker arm pivots had needle bearings. The serial number began
1HFSC220*PA500001.

The GL1500A'94 Gold Wing Aspencade was sold in 1994 in one of three colors: Cnady Spectra Red,
Pearl Atlantis Blue, or Black-Z. The lower cowling was in the body color. The serial number began
1HFSC220*RA600001.

The GL1500A'95 Gold Wing Aspencade was sold in 1995 in one of three colors: Candy Spectra Red,
Pearl Royal Magenta, or Pearl Sierra Green. The suspension had a different calibration. There was a special 20th
anniversary badging. The trunk and saddlebag inner liners were upgraded. The serial number began
IHFSC220*SA700001.

The GL1500A'96 Gold Wing Aspencade was sold in 1996 in one of four
colors: Candy Spectra Red, Pearl Royal Magenta, Pearl Sierra Green, or Pearl
Sparkling Blue. The full-logic audio system was upgraded. It had electric
reverse; an on-board air compressor for adjusting the ride of the rear
suspension. The engine was a liquid-cooled,
horizontally opposed 6-cylinder displacing 1520 cc. Bore and stroke: 71 mm
x 64 mm. Compression ratio: 9.8:1. The valve system was a belt-driven SOHC
with self-adjusting hydraulic lifters. There were twin carburetors (36mm
diaphragm-type CV). The ignition system was a computer controlled electronic
device. The starting system, of course, was electric start with no kick-start
pedal. The transmission was a 5-speed with an electric reverse. Final drive
was supplied by a shaft. The front suspension was a 41 mm fork with TRAC
anti-dive and 140 mm travel. The rear suspension had dual shocks of which
one was air adjustable from the dash and 150 mm travel. The front tires
were 130/70H-18 while the back were 160/80H-16. The front brakes featured
dual 296 mm discs with twin piston calipers. The rear brake had a single
316 mm disc with twin piston caliper which was integrated with one front
disc. The seat height was 740 mm (29.1"). The wheelbase was 1690 mm (66.5").
The dry weight was 370 kg (816 lb). The fuel capacity was 24 liters (5.3 Imp.
Gal., 4.4 US Gal.). The serial number began 1HFSC220*TA800001. |

The GL1500A'97 Gold Wing Aspencade was sold in 1997 in one of three colors: Candy Spectra Red,
Pearl Sonoma Green, or Pearl Glacier White. The handlebar switches and controls used the internationally
approved symbols. Many of the transmission and clutch parts were the same as the "Valkyrie" parts. The serial

The GL1500A'98 Gold Wing Aspencade was sold in 1998 in one of two colors: Candy Spectra Red or
Black. The cylinder head covers were new and the logo emblems had new designs. The speedometer and
tachometer have white faces. The serial number began 1HFSC220*WA000001. |
